I have had to totally restore Windows 7 and have been able to import Documents, Downloads etc. from a back-up on external drive. However, I can't import/restore all my thousands of emails which are in the same back-up. The Windows 'import' function doesn't seem to want to go to the backup files. I have modified Windows Live Mail to Windows Mail as per the Tutorial on this website. I can see the emails in the back-up disk F:\TRAVELMATE\Backup Set 2013-05-18 210006\Backup Files 2013-05-25 210007\Backup files 1.zip\C\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail. These, of course are the latest - the back-up sets go back over several months and I'll need all those as well.
I won't be able to live if I can't restore these !
Subsequently : I have been able to get about half of the email folders back by copying them from above directory to another drive and then 'importing' them into Windows Mail. However, although the copy of the remaining folders appears to take place, the folder containing them (although having 'properties' indicating there are many MB of data) says the folder is empty. When I try to import from that folder nothing is transferred though the message says import was succseful.
