    Firefox 3.5.3 taking too long.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit (Got from houseparty).

It takes about 10-15 seconds to launch Firefox but 1 second to launch IE8.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but still slow.

    Anyone else have this problem?

FF has always been that slow. It was so bad with 3.5.4 that I just stopped using it. Now that Chrome has Xmarks, I think I'm going to start using it as my default browser.

It take a little longer but keeping in view the add ons what firefox is having, I have to stuck to it. No other browser can compete with firefox as far as the add ons are concerned.

FF used to take 28 seconds on a cold start until I switched my firewall from OA to Outpost. Now it takes 17 seconds. If you start it in Mozilla safemode you'll see it start right up, meaning outside influences like extensions etc. effect load time. The trick is to figure out what exactly is helping to slow it down. I couldn't.

Heyyou are you still using XP too? I'm running Firefox in XP and it runs great. And this computer is 6 years old (single core CPU).

Yes I'm still using XP until I can get a new computer in a few months. I don't have enough stuff to do an upgrade. My DELL is 5 years old and runs lean and mean. No rush, this way they'll have some of the bugs fixed by the time I get it. I am reading the posts here trying to learn. As for my FF, mine works great with the exception of the slow cold loading time.

Using many plugins, FF opens on my system here instantaneously as I lift my finger from it's shortcut. I defrag like crazy though all the time. Maybe that's a supportive reason. My specs as far as CPU, memory and HDD are very modest as you can see.

I have FF set to delete all data upon each time it is closed. Like cookies, browsing and download history. I have it set to not delete cache and passwords.
