Firefox 3.5.3 taking too long. I'm running Windows 7 64bit (Got from houseparty).
It takes about 10-15 seconds to launch Firefox but 1 second to launch IE8.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but still slow.
Anyone else have this problem? | My System Specs |

FF has always been that slow. It was so bad with 3.5.4 that I just stopped using it. Now that Chrome has Xmarks, I think I'm going to start using it as my default browser. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Model #: BRMD10926 OS Windows 8 Pro x64 with WMC CPU AMD FX-4130 Quad 3.8Ghz Motherboard Asus M5A97 R2.0 Memory 8GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit Sound Card On Board Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays HP w185e Screen Resolution 1366x768 Keyboard HP Keyboard Mouse Onn optical mouse PSU 500W Case XION XON-180 Cooling Stock Hard Drives WD Raptor 7200 1TB Internet Speed 10Mbps DSL Other Info HP Pavilion p2-1033wb: Win7 Home Premium x64, AMD E-300 APU 1.3 Ghz dual core, 3GB DDR3, 500GB Hitachi HDD |

It take a little longer but keeping in view the add ons what firefox is having, I have to stuck to it. No other browser can compete with firefox as far as the add ons are concerned. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite A205-S5880 OS windows seven CPU Intel Pentium Dual core T2390 Motherboard Intel GM 695 Memory 3 GB Graphics Card Intel GM 965/GML 960 Sound Card Intel 82801HB ICH8 PSU Intel GM965/GML960 Chipset - Integrated Graphics 0 [C0] [Tos Hard Drives 200 GB |

Anyone else have this problem? FF used to take 28 seconds on a cold start until I switched my firewall from OA to Outpost. Now it takes 17 seconds. If you start it in Mozilla safemode you'll see it start right up, meaning outside influences like extensions etc. effect load time. The trick is to figure out what exactly is helping to slow it down. I couldn't. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DELLXPS 8300 OS WIN7 x64 Home Premium SP1 CPU Intel Core i5-2400 processor(6MB Cache, 3.1GHz) Memory 8 GB RAM Hard Drives 1.5TB C Drive |

Heyyou are you still using XP too? I'm running Firefox in XP and it runs great. And this computer is 6 years old (single core CPU). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to list. OS XP, Seven, 2008R2 CPU AMD, Intel, VIA Motherboard Various Memory Corsair, Kingston, etc. Graphics Card ATI, NVIDIA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard qwerty Hard Drives Maxtor, Western Digital Internet Speed 22 Mb/s @ home, 1 Gb/s @ server Other Info All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality. |

Yes I'm still using XP until I can get a new computer in a few months. I don't have enough stuff to do an upgrade. My DELL is 5 years old and runs lean and mean. No rush, this way they'll have some of the bugs fixed by the time I get it. I am reading the posts here trying to learn. As for my FF, mine works great with the exception of the slow cold loading time. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DELLXPS 8300 OS WIN7 x64 Home Premium SP1 CPU Intel Core i5-2400 processor(6MB Cache, 3.1GHz) Memory 8 GB RAM Hard Drives 1.5TB C Drive |

Using many plugins, FF opens on my system here instantaneously as I lift my finger from it's shortcut. I defrag like crazy though all the time. Maybe that's a supportive reason. My specs as far as CPU, memory and HDD are very modest as you can see.
I have FF set to delete all data upon each time it is closed. Like cookies, browsing and download history. I have it set to not delete cache and passwords. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |
