Prevent Firefox from opening old pages

I don't use Firefox on the regular basis, so pardon if I'm asking something simple. Say, I had 5 tabs open and then closed the main Firefox window. The next day I open up Firefox again and it loads up those 5 tabs automatically. Is there any way to make it stop doing it? (And only open my home page, i.e. Google. com)

    PS. Firefox version is 21.0

    In Firefox Options/General tab
Select Show my home page in the When Firefox starts dropdown list and click OK

That's interesting - I would have expected you have Show my windows and tabs from last time

Try selecting Show a blank page and saving it.
Does that change your FF startup ?

Do you have Tab Mix Plus, or something of that nature installed? With TMP, for example, there is an option to show previous tabs upon start-up, overriding Firefox's built-in Session Restore.

You say you don't use FF on a regular basis, so I'm unsure if you have many addons, or have customized it much. You can reset FF to it's default settings easily if you have not customized it much.

You could also run FF in it's own Safe Mode to see if an addon may be causing this behavior
