Windows 7: File downloads fail in IE10

File downloads fail in IE10

I am trying to use the IE10 built-in download manager to download some files, every time it gets to 99% and then then fails "This file couldn't be downloaded", this happens for 9 out of 10 files, and even on files that I have been able to previously download.

I had the same problem on IE9 but only occasionally.

I'm running Win 7 x64, fully patched to last week.

Any suggestions on a work around or recommendations for a good and free download manager.

Thanks

Have you tried another browser for relief ?
As of yesterday there were a boat load of windows updates/ mostly ie10's new version but I'm sure ie9 had just as many,
Reset ie9 or ie10 manually,
Click the Start button on the Taskbar,
Click on Control panel,
Click on Internet options,
Go to the Advanced section,
Click on Reset button on the bottom,
Check the box to Delete personal settings,
After Resetting ie9 or 10,
Open Internet explorer,
Use the recommended setup and install options when prompted,
When prompted that there are Add-ons ready to be Enabled click on No,
Test with the site your having issues with first before enabling any add-ons.
