Directed to about.blank

I click on a site in my browser (FireFox) and a new page opens named "about.blank". It never displays any content. I don't know what causes this. Maybe I'll get an answer here.

This morning I reset FirfeFox as described in the in the mozilla support article you referenced
Haven't done any searches yet so don't know if the problem is solved.

It appears that the problem went away after implementing the fix in the above post.
