Win7 goes to sleep during download

    Hi,

Sometimes I use my Firefox to download ggreater files.
When the download is running and I'm not working on the PC and a energie schema like "power saving" the Pc is sleeping/hibranating.

Why is firefox not preventing the system from this action?
Is there a way to do so without manual action (like deactivation of power saving and shut down timer)?

It often happens with long video's/ Movies...
Best I've found is to disable Hibernation and sleep mode when plugged into a power source/ Manage power plan/ that way even your screen saver will not effect the downloads.
I leave the default for running on Battery though.

    See if this helps

Start> In search box type device manager> Enter> Expand Network adapters> Right click on your adapter and choose Properties> Power Management tab> Make sure Allow this device to wake the computer is checked, if not, check it> OK

This is not realy a help.
I normaly want the system to suspend to Ram/Disk.
I don't want to switch on and off this feature all the time.

This is a wake up feature I guess ... not a keep awake.

It has been known to work in your situation, regardless of it's name. I have never had the problem to test myself. You could always easily change it back if no help. A Guy

I'm not sure if it helps but when I usually have to download & plan to be away from my lappy, I open up a video file in VLC & pause it, even though I don't have an intention of watching it. I have noted, when I pause a file in VLC, it doesn't even show up screensaver.

While you can overcome this issue if you use download manager as well, I use FDM & until the download completes it doesn't go into sleep mode, only after that it goes into sleep mode, if its still untouched, so is in the case of torrents as well.
