IE10 message 'internet explorer has stopped working"

I am getting this message on startup of IE10 about every second time I try and start ie, really frustrating. Window looks for a problem but just closes the application. Getting it to start up again is difficult. Using AVG internet security. Thanks for any assistance

I have been having that problem. If I uninstall I.E.10 and go back to I.E.9 that does not happen. I've tried I.E.10 several times and finally have given up and am staying on I.E.9.

However, on Windows 8, I.E.10 is working without problems, in my case.

No biggie to uninstall. Go to Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features/Installed Updates. I.E.10 is listed under "Microsoft Windows". Uninstall it there. I've done it several times, back and forth. I don't have Avast so its not the issue listed in the linked thread.

Avast was the problem in my case but the intent of linking the thread was to show how one can diagnose what is causing the problem.

I've tried both the automatic update version and the direct version. Both seem to work the same way.

As it works, for me, in Win 8 OK I have to assume some Win 7 issue and not really I.E.10. However, I have more things to do than try to research the flakey problem. Maybe I.E.11 will fix the problems.

Could you provide more information please?
1. Please click Start orb and key in eventvwr, click it.
2. Expand Windows Logs, click Application and check the Application Error, you can filter the records by clicking Filter current log from the right pane.
3. You can find the fault module, it's better to paste one or more records in the thread.

Most likely AVG toolbar.
Open ie,
Use Alt+TA or Gear symbol/ Manage add-ons/ Disable the toolbar.

Also Use No Add-ons mode/ Click Start and type in the search box,
Internet explorer/ click on the suggestion or it’s located at,
Start/ All programs/ Accessories folder/ System tools folder/ No add-ons.
