Hi , what houldsworth1 is suggesting is that you run a "more aggressive" scan
using a live environment.
I usually recommend Kaspersky rescue CD.

I would complete the following,
(*Kaspersky Rescue CD from a USB thumbdrive)

Thanks. I wasn't aware Kaspersky also produced a rescue CD. I'll have to add that to the arsenal of AV tools

You're welcome .
Most respectable AV companies produce a "rescue-CD" of sort,
I've had the most positive experience with Kaspersky's which is why I tend to suggest it over the others.

No I understood what he wanted me to do I was just thinking what good is running my AV(KIS2013) if it can't do the job and MBAM. Well just to get on the Linux bus I did have an updated version of Kaspersky's rescue disk and of course like I thought it came up clean plus just for the sake of it I downloaded Comodos Rescue Disk, but for some reason I couldn't get it to update the AV Defs. Another thing Houldsworth1 and YoYo155 some of these linux based rescue disks don't run wireless and that sucked for me because my ethernet cable that is running from my modem to my router came up short and my acer laptop is almost 19 inches, so I don't move it if I don't have to. It's kind of like a laptop desktop. I have this link for 26 of the best linux rescue disks and I was quite surprised to see a few of the ones on there. I didn't want to post it because of forum rules about links so if anyones interested just ask and I'll get it to you somehow to give you some assortment. Getting back to the main purpose of this scanning for malware and getting links to open in Outlook properly without crashing Chrome, unfortunately for me it still crashes when I try andd open an Outlook 2010 link without my Chrome browser already open. The Outlook links open perfectly in Firefox even when it's closed so this is 100% pure Chrome issue. Just have to see if someone has a solution if there is one. Like I said before I have even written in the Outlook forums and Microsoft Office forums and have yet to get an answer. Thanks for all the HELP guys.

Yes, I have that problem too. Everything in the house is wireless and so I had to use my laptop to get the updates and then run from the USB.

I'd be interested to see the list of rescue disks - can you PM it to me if you don't want to post it here.

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble.

I'd be glad to link you that list. Shoot me an email and I'll return it as soon as I get it. It's pretty cool the way they put these together. I have no problem posting the link here as long as it's cool. I don't see the rules but that doesn't mean there isn't one and I don't want to step on toes. If you can find a listing or rule that says it's cool to post it and I'll do it that way or if you feel like sending me an address that's fine too.

Email links to Google Chrome Crash

I have seen on several forums the problem above. Clicking on a link in my email will not load in Google Chrome and says extensions have crashed. Finally I have found a solution:

Go to Google Chrome settings / advanced settings / system
Check "Continue running background apps..."

Problem solved.
