IE 9 - no indicator a page is busy loading?

Another W7 noob question - is there any way to make IE 9 show that a page is loading/waiting to load like the 'little bar of green boxes' or 'spinning icon on the tab' that 8 had? The web-based program I use for work is slow sometimes, but I've noticed that sometimes IE9 didn't even register that I clicked on something to open or switch to. It's hard to tell the difference between 'slow to open/switch' and 'didn't register my click' because there's nothing that actually indicates it's DOING anything anymore...

ETA: it does have a spinning icon on a NEW tab that's opened, but nothing on an existing one that's going to a new page within the same tab.

Hmmm, IE9 should show the same spinning icon (that you noted on a new tab) when it transitions between pages within the same tab. Try this: right mouse click on a link, stare at the left of the tab for the page that you are on and select "open" from the context menu near where you right-clicked. If the page loads fast enough, you might not see any spinning icon... but if it is slow, I would think that the spinning icon would be there.

There might be some web pages that use iframes in way that prevents IE9 from showing the page loading info.

Oog - you're right, it looks like it's some kind of iframes issue - it appears to be working the way I expected on every page except the one I was initially talking about. Frustrating, as that's my main work application... Oh well, guess it's another thing I'll have to get used to. Thanks!

The Status bar has been downgraded to nothing but a page zoom bar/ Alt+VTS or Menubar/ View/ Toolbars/ Status bar,
Your mouse pointer should also show a spinning icon on it as well if not briefly as well as the tab.
I suppose pressing the F5 key would refresh the page ?

The OP does not have admin rights on his work computer - so no clean boot via msconfig :-(

Thanks, ThrashZone, but we don't have rights at our level to do that, and again our IT folks aren't going to bother to mess with it. Something else I'll have to get used to. :\
