How do I change the default File Upload directory?

When I click a button to upload a file, I'm prompted with the File Upload window. Automatically, it defaults to the Desktop. I wish to change this to My Documents. My Internet searches result in a bunch of spam about changing file directories inside various software not relating at all to what I want hah.... Anyone know how to do this please? Thank you thank you

Lasre I am not sure what files you are trying to load / save or from where. If it is the window at the bottom of the screen I usually save and then run once I have done that as in my pic the Save has a drop down to Save as and you can go form there.

Personally I keep Downloads on my desktop so I know where they all go after installing or deciding I don't want them I delete from the list.

To do the type Download in search right click save to desktop.

Usually an upload will default to the last upload directory. Ironically, when it does not, it often defaults to Documents. Is this one particular browser? Multiple browsers may offer different upload locations, even though it is Windows Explorer that is being invoked. Try as a test changing the location by browsing to documents and do the upload. Close the browser and open it again and try another upload. Does it still default to desktop, or does it open to Documents?

As asked, where are you initiating these uploads from? A file sharing site, a web hosting site, etc?

This sites Browse for files function also defaults to the desktop,
I believe most sites will also do this I'm not sure if it's a windows thing/ browser.. or site thing,
The Desktop is a Public area and probably why it's the worst file storage place because of possible corruption,
Altering the Browse for files function ?
Normally it would only be Desktop on the first attempt and after that which ever folder you navigated to would come up instead of the Desktop but even that might be restricted to per session ?
