Cannot run IE 9 32 bit on win 7 64 bit PC
-
I disabled ALL add-ons for the 64 bit browser...the only "currently loaded add-ons" that were enabled were two from Skype...which I rarely if ever use...so I disabled those and still have the problem in the 32 bit browser. The only other loaded add-ons (which were/are disabled) are Logitech SetPoint for the wireless mouse and keyboard and a Java Plug-In 2 Helper...but both the Logitech and Java were disabled.
Will do a clean start now.

Did you disable the add-ons in the 32 bit IE? Those would be what would cause it. Since the 32 bit (No add-ons) worked, it would seem likely that an add-on(s) is causing it. Boot to Safe mode with networking and if 32 bit opens, disable all add-ons and reboot to windows. then you can narrow it down. A Guy

OK I am in safe mode now...I opened the 32 bit browser and found the add-on for 1Password (which is the program I really want to use and it will not work on the 64 bit browser) and some other Microsoft ones such as OneNote and Groove Browser helper...Logitech and Skype as previously mentioned. I was able to disable all EXCEPT for the "default tab browser helper" from Search Results, LLC...it simply will NOT disable. I have no idea what that is...everything else I recognize. I use Microsoft Security essentials on the PC and it has never found any malware/virus...do you think the Search Results browser helper is malware?

Funny I came across that same thread on a google search...did all the steps and removed everything it said was malware...just found that searchresults default tab browser stuff.
I also deleted my desktop shortcut to IE9 32 bit for good measure, but now I can't seem to find how to open the 32 bit browser? I had previously unpinned it from my start menu.
Help?

Is there a link on Start> All programs? You can right click it and choose Pin to (Taskbar, Start menu). Or Create shortcut. A Guy

No, only the 64 bit version is there.

Yup...did that one as well...that link had great info on removal using a lot of sources...

Navigate to C:\program files (x86)\Internet Explorer and right click on iexplore.exe, same options I listed above to pin or create shortcut. BTW, your specs say you have 32 bit? Your PC is x64, correct?
