Cant access variety of websites, however i can with a VPN

Hello, since late December Ive been unable to access a large variety of sites (facebook.com, gamefaqs.com etc) however I began using a vpn known as ipredator and through that i can access the sites that were timing out. When ipredator is disabled i can no longer visit the sites, but with it running my ip is Swedish and some sites are limited based on region. I need some insight on how to fix my basic connection so that i dont wake up to my girlfriend screaming at my computer for not connecting properly. I will try anything, in January i tried many different things but after nine months i have completely forgotten what i have and haven't done. Many thanks.

    1) Is your isp blocking sites?
    2) Have you checked for viruses / malware?
    3) Even VPN's can limit accesss to sites depending on location. (I know as it's happened to me)

    1) How would i know if they were blocking them, i figured they wouldnt block something as widely used as facebook. Also im using verizon if it helps to know that.
    2) Ive run Avg every week and it never finds anything from a full pc scan, same for avg's anti rootkit. Also i run malwarebytes weekly and havent found anything through its full scan.
3)I removed the vpn in February and the problem persisted but its entirely likely that it could be the problem. I just wouldn't know what to do after i removed it.

    1) Which browswer are you useing, IE or Mozilla Firefox?
The reason I ask, it could be your internet settings causing the problems.

    2) Ask your ISP, if your PC is clean then I suggest sites are being blocked externally.
Not on purpose mind you, could be a fault with your connection.

    3) AVG Free?, if so prepare yourself for a posiible virus or malware....or both. (From experience)
I suggest downloading Malwarebytes and doing a full scan.

    4) Again, talk to your ISP, as you said, sites like Facebook shouldn't be blocked.

    1) Check this first...... Explorer could be blocking the sites, it will affect all browsers as IE is the main system browser.

    Code:

Also try a full sweep with Malwarebytes.

    2) AVG might be blocking sites, read here:
    Code:
    http://forums.avg.com/gb-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=204565
    3) AVG 2014, Same, got it yesterday and seems to be doing fine.

    4) Good luck but try the above suggestions first.

Ive tried disabling my firewall, it didn't make a difference.
I wasn't able to find a solution from either link, and unfortunately my isp was not able to help either,
Ive tried contacting my vpn provider but i doubt they'll be helpful, if you think of anything else ill gladly make the attempt.

See if you can access the sites from Safe Mode with Networking

    Safe Mode

If it DOES work in Safe Mode, perform a Clean Start to see if there is a conflict
