Internet Explorer not starting, email links cannot be clicked.

Hi All,

Recently I started having problems with Eudora, not being able to click a link and have it open the browser. In dealing with that problem, I discovered that IE will not start. Clicking the icon, I briefly get the busy icon then nothing. Checking the Task manager, no IE listed. Also in the same vein, Nero 12 does not run, it seems that many of the programs that utilize portions of IE or related items are the ones suffering issues. To date the affected programs are Eudora, Nero 12, Photoreflect Desktop darkroom. Also, I'm encountering problems with my network in that I cannot connect to my NAS except as a media device. One last issue, I have 2 user accts, mine, the administrator account which I can log into and a family acct which gives me an error "Group Policy Client service failed the logon (this acct has NO password). When I attempt to access this acct. The error message pops up then brings me back to the user login screen.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks TZ, I'm currently running AVGFree, MS Essentials & Adaware. I've tried the clean boot, no dice, same issues. I'm currently running a scan in Safe Mode, let you know how that fares when it's done. An interesting thing happened. I tried to start Malwarebytes Anti-malware and received an error message stating "Runtime error 339" Component 'ieframe.dll' or one of its dependencies not corrrectly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I just re-installed java, hoping that was the problem (before trying your suggestions) and nada. The scan i'm running now is superantispyware free.

UPDATE: Super Anti-Spyware found only cookies that it objected to. Downloaded a fresh copy or MAM when I tried to run it, got the same error message as above. Currently running a quick scan with MSert. while looking in the registry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList I noticed some entry that I'm not sure about (don't show up in the user list that you would see going through control panel). It is C:\UpdatusUser.Dad-PC. My user name is Dad so that's why I question this user.

MSERT just completed the quick scan with no viruses, spyware &/or other potentially unwanted software detected.

I'm going to run the full scan later this evening when I won't be using the computer to see what (if anything) it finds. I have quite a few harddrives so that's why I ran the quick version right now.

Just re-started the computer and Spybot's teatimer says, C:\Windows\system32\jsproxy.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.
