error 0x800ccc0D Windows live mail unable to send message

    Hi Everyone,
After resetting my computer to factory settings after crash, I connected Windows Live Mail to my server account and received all of my emails however when I tried to send an email I received the above error message with socket error 11004. I telephoned my server and everything is correct in other words all boxes are ticked correctly on windows Live Mail. However still no outgoing mail. After reading some answers to this problem on various forums I checked Avast settings and their port for smpt. is 25,587. When I spoke with my server the outgoing smpt. settings on advanced in windows mail should be 587. Should I alter the Avast settings to 587. Please help as the company who is the server stated we are not responsible for Windows Live Mail, in other words all boxes are ticked and it is not our problem.

Welcome to Seven Forums ninedogs. Sorry for slow reply. Sometimes a post gets overlooked, or no one has the correct answer. In doing some searching, it seems Avast uses port 25 by default, but some have reported issues and change it to 587.

You can also disable Avasts Mail Shield to see if it works with it off. I do see many saying Avast wants to keep changing the setting back to port 25. A Guy

    Hi ninedogs,

the newest version of Avast will scan your incoming / out going mail regardless of how it is set in WLM.

This WLM Option Settings.zip will show you how to access WLM and how it should be set.

Everything is set to the options. Still no email can be sent. Have checked all my set up again, no spelling, dots in correct position. etc. Do you think I should start again setting up new email account. Thank you.
