How do I stop adobe flashplayer 11.8.800.175 update reminder popups?

I think I have found the problem: the Adobe Updater.

I turns out that McAfee Firewall automatically allows the Adobe updater in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6\Adobe_Updater.exe to go online whenever it wants to run.

I believe this updater checks for all Adobe products, be it Adobe Reader or Adobe Photoshop which are the other adobe products I have installed on my machine.

The Reader is not supposed to auto-update and I never had any problem with this setting.
It must have been installed with Photoshop. This particular version of Photoshop does not give me the choice about updates.
I have therefore blocked internet access for the Adobe updater.

I thank everyone for their input.
For now, I will upgrade to IE11 and see how it works with flash support.
When or if I install the Adobe Flashplayer in the future, I'll see if the problem re-occurs with the new flash version.
I will report back here whether I have issues or not, so that the thread can be marked solved or not.

Recently I was in Task Scheduler for a different reason, when I saw multiple Google, Adobe and other manufacturer's updates scheduled for daily runtimes.

Go to Start Pearl>Search field, type Task Sched, then choose Task Scheduler when it appears on top.

I clicked on Task Scheduler Library and there were about 5 items in there (some Google were dupes, it seemed) that I would rather not phone home all the time. As you can see now, empty.

You can shift-click>Delete one or all of them, clicking past one confirming dialogue. This is a logical hiding spot for things that go RUN in the night.

FYI, I also do not necessarily keep everything up to date, but I do agree that, depending upon the websites you visit, it is probably a good idea with Flash. I have Firefox set to ask me if I want to open a Flash media object.

Sorry, I forgot to report back here about the flashplayer issue.
I did uninstall flash and installed the latest IE 11 via Windows Update.

IE11 works quite nicely now on W7 - just check the enhanced security options if some web sites cause problems and enable compatibility mode.

IE11 didn't exhibit flash support, as mentioned by jimbo in the above quoted post.
I still had prompts to install adobe flashplayer whenever I visited sites with flash content.

However, the issue was due to the adobe updater, which has now been disabled from going online at wish via the firewall.
I did reinstall adobe flash and the problem has not re-occured since.
Needless to say, if I had a choice, I wouldn't have re-installed it.
It was good to not be disturbed by multiple ads when visiting some sites.
Maybe jimbo could let me know if there's something I needed to do for IE to activate flash support.

As a follow up to the Task Sched delete items suggestion, I found all those updates from Google and Adobe had repopulated when I checked my Task Scheduler again this morning. So at this point I disabled in Services two Adobe updates and three Googles. Once again, I am not recommending this as a course of action. I do, from time to time, check for updates manually for the products I use. If you want to play it safe leave the updates for your browsers and media plugins alone - let them run.
