screen size
I can see only 4/5 of my screen, and need constantly to use the horizontal slide bar.
How do I fit the browser to my screen? (or, in my terms: "How do I fit it all in?"

Sounds like your zoom level is set too high.
How To reset browser level to 100% Windows 7
Press Ctrl-0. However, you may find that 100% does not leave enough fuzziness for Clear Type to interpolate with. So, I like to use 112%, e.g. by pressing Alt-x Z C 112. It may not be so important on W7 but in W8 it is essential at least on wide-screen LED monitors.
In Internet explorer you can use these shortcuts. Other browsers are similar.
CTRL +(plus) Zoom In
CTRL + (minus) Zoom Out
CTRL + mouse scroll wheel
Hope this helps,
John

I addition to what John has suggested, most browsers also have screen size setting in Tools or Settings which you can experiment with, to get a satisfactory compromise.
Makes sure your screen is set to the highest possible resolution first. You can right click on desktop and click screen resolution and adjust it from there. If its still like that, look in your amd or nvidia control panel and changed the scaling according. Scaling should be under desktop properties.
Control+0 did the trick in 1 second flat!
Many thanks!

Instead of using Zoom see if you can adjust the dpi settings,
DPI Display Size Settings - Change
