    Windows Live 2012 won't send/receive from Verizon.net

    Hi
Email just stopped working, I have windows live mail, and Verizon. I get the following message.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Verizon (flashs) account. The connection to the server has failed.
    Server: 'pop.verizon.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 995
    Secure(SSL): Yes
    Socket Error: 10060
Called Verizon, they say everything is ok on their end.

I've been having internet access trouble every evening anytime between 7pm to 10pm EST since October 28 with my VZ DSL.

Pinging sites like Google, Yahoo, NBC, etc. give me anywhere from 25% to 100% packet loss, but pinging my three static VZ DNS servers as well as the router and other PCs on my home network come back 100% every time. I'll have trouble anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, then it will work normally again as if nothing was wrong.

I'm just relieved I'm not the only one having trouble.

Welcome to Seven Forums flashs. Was the email working with the same configuration before? Did you do any windows updates, or add any programs, or change any security program settings just recently that may explain this problem? You might try booting to Safe Mode with Networking, and see if sending mail works there.

    Safe Mode

You might try a System Restore if you know when the problem started, and have a restore point from just before.

Perhaps a Verizon customer will be able to confirm their settings are the same as yours. If your settings are correct. Port blocking by a security program, firewall, or router would be the 1st suspect. That would mean both port 995 and 465 would be blocked as it is both incoming and outgoing. Id safe mode works, a clean start may find the conflict.

There is a troubleshooter on this page (as well as mail settings, which apparently you already have correct)
