Problem sending Pictures via Text to Cell Phone / email

Recently my Brother tried sending 8 pictures to me and my other two Brothers, yes there are four of us.

Brother sending pic's is using; A 4S iphone w/ ATT but says, "that's never mattered before".

My wife and I have Verizon and I never received the text message to my LG_VN150 phone I can receive and send, but it costs me.

He then sent the text to my wife's' cell phone a Galaxy S3 and she never received them. And, finally to our gmail account, four of the pic's for a total of 443KB made it, the other four were replaced with:

Problem sending Pictures via Text to Cell Phone / email-mk1.jpg

The total of all eight (about 1MB) should not have exceeded attachment limits for our email. I have asked him to download the pic's to his desk or laptop and send them to see if we can isolate the problem to his 4S.

Of the other two Brothers one did not receive any, I'm not sure of his equipment or plan; and one had no problem and received all eight, I believe he also has ATT.

I'm thinking some protocol with the Brothers 4S ATT text messaging is overriding the pic's but I haven't found anything on it yet and would like to know if any other members have any thoughts on this matter?

    I've got a iphone 4,
You might see if your brother can turn off imessaging and or Group messaging and see if it makes a difference when sending to you and your wife,
Settings/ Messages and he should see the options.
Oops also verify is sms messaging is activated on the Iphone

    Thanks,

I can see the imessaging maybe causing a problem, but not group and with his experience over the years with sms that setting shouldn't be a problem, but I'll let him know.

Your isp might be sifting through messages because you don't have a plan and pay as you go,
Like group emails I believe the isp might be treating group text messages like spam ?

I would believe all web based email providers sift through mesg's that pass through their systems whether you have a plan with them or not, I would also think that would hold true for client based email, but I'm not sure. There is a difference.

The one brother that didn't get any pic's did get hit with a spambot last year with his comcast isp and I was sent some emails through him, maybe that's affecting the service?? But, if I wasn't the original sinner why should I get punished??

IMO; It is just plain unethical if the isp's use "birds of a feather, flock together" profiling. That's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm going to post over at verizon's forum, and see if I can get some answers.

It could all be on his end/ carrier or sending error ?
I'm not even sure if I know how to send that many pictures or img files at one time via text ?
I do know that if you send a text and try to repeat another one before the first has been sent completely it seems to mess up the second text message.
Hope you figure it out Verizon and att do not get along very well,
    Cheers.

    Edit,
I looked through the settings that Bill posted but there isn't anything about Texting attachment,
I don't have a Apple email address so that I can not check which is what the link referred to mostly,
I suppose the common link would be At&t and the did not download from server which he should look at at&t for the error,
    Cheers.

Steve, I have searched this before, but it has been a while. The common answer was that this was a Microsoft Exchange virus scanning thing, but that makes little sense. I think it is an Apple mail setting somehow. Usually the issue is that along with the pictures, users receive the ATT.txt, which, when opened, just show the "Sent from my iPhone" text.

Have a look at the answer Here:

This used to happen to me when I used Apple Mail on my Mac.

This fixed it for me on there however, I am unsure if the same settings are within the Iphone.

In Apple Mail, go to the menu Edit > Attachments
Make sure the following settings are checked:
    Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments
Always Insert Attachments at End of Message
Use the menu Mail > Preferences and go to the Composing section
Make sure that Message Format is set to "Plain Text"

I'm not an Iphone user so am not too sure where the equivalent setting would be.
Your issue is different because you don't receive the pictures at all, but I suspect it is how they are being attached. Usually they show up in the body of the email, then the .txt as an attachment. I believe the 2 settings that you want him to find are the Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments and Always Insert Attachments at End of Message. If this phone is not new, ask him if he recently had a Software Update (change of OS version).

Mike, I'm leaning towards Bill and that my brother had an update on his phone that may have defaulted some of his settings on his 4S phone that he may not be aware of.

I would agree the common link is ATT.

Thanks Bill, that was an interesting read, so much so that I joined just to include my situation. You'll see the post, but I used an old moniker, it seems the one I use here is already taken.

Yes it is different, for one I'm not sure if my brother has or is using MS Exchange and I forgot to mention that in the Spiceworks thread.

I don't know the age of his phone, but I'm still thinking:
that my brother had an update on his phone that may have defaulted some of his settings on his 4S phone that he may not be aware of.

The current ios is 7.0.4 which I have and it has improved operations from prior updates in the 7... line
So you can see if he has updated I pretty much turned off all of the new junk I could/ mostly voice assisted stuff,
    Cheers.

Another question might be did he take all of the pictures or were they sent to him and he's forwarding them ?

he could always get a skydrive account since it is free and works on the iphone, then he can upload the pictures to it and set it as a share for whoever he wants to see it. You get 7gigs of free space on Skydrive.
I use this all the time on my iphone 4s then bogging up someone's email account
