Robin, yes, I can open the documents in Word without a problem. I can attach a picture in WLM with no problem. When I click the paper clip in WLM, however, it takes me to pictures. When I click picutes in WLM it takes me to documents. Just the opposite of what I click on. Go figure? But when I click on a document, it comes up with a window that says I need the administrator's permission to open the document and I am the administrator and I don't know what this window is talking about. This whole thing is very strange to me but I know some computer geek could fix this issue. I just wish I knew more about computers. They are marvelous when they work as intended. When they don't, I am lost at what to do about the problem!
well I am clueless but you might want to take a look at the Microsoft url I posted, you might have to go that route to try and fix this unless someone else in here has a suggestion

Thanks, Robin, for all your help. I did look at the url you posted and it was not my problem at all. I just did another computer restore to the 19th of November which should have placed the restore back before the problem started but it did not fix my WLM problem. The system would only let me go back to 11/19 and I wanted to go back further just to make sure but the system would not allow that.

This problem happened just as I was on the desk top screen as I remember it and a window flashed up and it asked to take control of my computer. I thought it might be a virus so I hit the "deny" button instead of the "alllow" button.
This is troubling, if this was a malicious program, clicking either button may have infected you. Have you had any other odd behavior? I see you use MSE, but it's not the best. Suggest you download and run these 2 free programs, and see if they come up clean.

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

Choose the free version of both, install, and scan with Malwarebytes first.

    Dear A Guy,

I am using Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware already. I did a system restore to the 19th as you may have already seen but that did not help. I am really puzzled and I supose I will just have to give up on this issue and move on. I can copy and past documents into my WLM notes so I guess that will just have to do.

Thanks kindly for all your trouble trying to help me.

Your system specs say Internet explorer 7, this seems unlikely. Can you open IE> Click the gear icon upper right> Click on About Internet Explorer and let us know what version is listed

Can you drag and drop the attachment into the body of the email?

I'm beginning to suspect IE, especially if it is IE11, and has protected mode enabled.

Bingo! Yes, that works and I do have IE 9. I must have been thinking of Windows 7 that I have.

Thanks, sir, you are a gentleman and you are very persistent and I do appreciate that. I can drag a document to my WLM just fine!

Well that's a work around at least. I hate to not figure it out though. Glad you have some functionality, always glad to try and help. A Guy

If u get real frustrated you might want to try uninstalling wlm and reinstalling and see if it works. When you reinstall everything should still be there but it might actually fix the program

I have exactly the same problem. The drag and drop is my work around but it is still frustrating having to use several windows. A few interesting attributes of the problem:
    1. it is only MS Word & PDF files that won't work. Excel, rtf, xps and picture files work just fine.
    2. right clicking for send to mail recipient works fine for everything but the word and pdf files. For those two if you try send that way nothing happens not even the need permission dialog box opens.
    3. If I use my other computer on the network, it all works just fine even attaching the original .doc or .pdf file from the first computer over the network.
Any other thoughts on the problem?
