cant save emails- cant copy email into word doc either

Cant save important emails (at all).
Can’t copy/paste the TO, FROM, SUBJECT, DATE and TIME STAMP lines of the email to Microsoft Word document.

    Issues commenced on 12-2-2013
    1. When trying to “save as” emails to my desktop or trying to save the email as a new file name in “My Documents” folder, it appears to save the document. But when I try to open the “save as” email doc on the desktop or in the folder, the home page for my entire inbox is displayed? If I try to open the saved document on the inbox page, it will default to “re input password” to re open the email. Then it wraps around over and over. When logged into Firefox for my email account – it does one other issue that it does not occur when going through Internet Explorer. When I go back to open the saved email to desktop I may get a momentary snapshot of the actual email I was saving but it will flash over to the inbox page. If I go back and try to reopen the email I will only get the inbox display from then on.
    2. If I try to “copy and paste” the email to a Microsoft Word doc the cursor will not copy the To, From, Subject line, Date and Time stamp. It will only copy the body of the email.
    3. Starting 12/29/2013 – previous emails that were saved in My Documents folder with previous saved dates (I&E August 2013) would display the email copied with the actual dates prior the problems of December 2013. Currently (as of today 12/30/2013) when opening these documents now have changed from being a copy of the actual email page to a copy of my Inbox page ?

System Information: Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11. (note: I have found that Internet Explorer was auto loaded on 11/27/2013.)? The same issue happens if using Firefox Mozilla as browser.

I forwarded this information to Microsoft and they responded it was a AT&T and Yahoo issue since they are my email provider and I should contact them. AT&T (my provider) uses Yahoo to provide our email service. AT&T support is useless. AT&T no clues and as for Yahoo read the following. They won’t help either.
In response to an inquiry Yahoo sent me an email stating quote, Our records show your Yahoo account is provided by AT&T. Because your account is provided through AT&T, all support for account & email issues will be provided by AT&T. If your issue is related to another Yahoo product, you can return our form and chose another product for support.”

Windows 7 was installed in January of 2013 and no problems until 12/2/2013. Would really appreciate any assistance since it appears support from vendors have placed me on an island! Thanks for your assistance in advance.

This thread is in reference to the Web based client [AT&T/Yahoo] - right?

Essentailly, this is a Yahoo Mail issue - How to save eMail from Yahoo web based mail client.

I didn't dig too deep, but found that when you right click on a eMail and "save target as" - you do get the entire HTML for Yahoo Mail, including the eMail desired. You are correct though, some header data (date) is not preserved.

The easiest way I can think of "saving" the eMail, is to install Widows Essential Mail (WEM), create your Yahoo account in the WEM client, and download all mail from the Yahoo Server. The nice thing about WEM is that it stores eMail as simple files - you can copy them or edit tehm, or open them with another application.

Let me know if you want to go that route and I or another member can help you set it up.

Thanks for responses. Slartybart - I am assuming this is a AT&T/Yahoo issue since it is occurring with saving my emails but I am not webpage and client savvy. As I think I mentioned W7 was loaded in Jan 2013. I have had no issues with saving emails, copying them etc until 12/2/13. What I am try to do is troubleshoot to see what is missing and fix the problem vs a workaround. I do have Windows Essential with Windows Live mail but I don't use it for sending emails. I go thru AT&T server to Yahoo I assume. Would not rule out what you suggest. However would like to pin point what happen to the system/programs to cause this issue and fix it. The only thing of consequence lately is on 11/26/2013 Internet Explorer version 11 was auto load to the system and I first noticed save issues on 12/2/2103. ?

    You're welcome.

Do you use WEMail to recieve messages? Or do you not use it at all?

I'm not sure that IE is involved because I use IE9 and if I understand the issue correctly I get the same results you're getting. I'm also not sure that AT&t has much to do with it
I used native Yahoo web client to test (no ISP frontend to Yahoo)

Yahoo has been changing their eMail and that's most likely the cause. Try going to mail.yahoo.com and enter your AT&T id/pw at the login screen (full address for the id - including the @ att.net)

If you can log on Yahoo this way, poke around and try to find basic mail (might revert you to the previous version where you were able to save stuff).

If that still doesn't get you to where you need to be, contact Yahoo and ask for help. They aren't real fast (millions of users) and you might have to prod them a few times, but they have been helpful to me in the past.

WEMail isn't really a workaround - it is, in my opinion, a better way to manage eMail. Click a button and mail comes to you - you can leave the original mail on the server if you need to access it via the web client.

If you go with WEMail - please make sure that you're running the latest version
    Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3505.0912)
