IE 9 slow after reformatting hard drive

Lately my IE 9 got frustratingly slow and decided to re-format. I used the restore CD’s I created few years ago right after buying the laptop. The process went smoothly and relatively fast, but then updating Windows took many many hours in several sessions.

To my surprise IE 9 is as slow as before. I tested this before and after installing Kaspersky antivirus and can’t say I notice a difference. Very slow both before and after installing the antivirus.

I installed Chrome and it’s pretty quick. I did not have Chrome before, so can't compare.

Any clues why IE 9 is so slow? Opening a bookmarked page can take over a minute.

    Thanks,

you may want to try and upgrade to IE10, I heard that it was much more safer and secure unlike IE9 since it has been out for 3 years, upgrade to IE10 and tell us what you think

I have IE9 running fine on another Windows 7 laptop.
My hope was that reformatting would fix the slow one and it didn't.
