"Internet Explorer has stopped working" error message

IE 11 stopped working as the alert states. Supposedly it is checking on a solution, but none has come back after several days of not working. I have no idea why this has happened. I certainly don't mind deleting the program and installing a new one, but I can't see how to do this. Luckily Firefox is my main browser and I can do without IE (I think), but still would like it to function.

Hi flycaster,

Check out this link. I suggest to check out the MSCONFIG fix which you can find when you scroll down a little.

Did as the link suggested for the msconfig approach. However, after re-booting, IE gave the same error message and when I went to msconfig/services, there were now a ton of services listed (before there were only about 15 or so, now there are many more that were not there before) and all were checked (I never rechecked them) and "Hide services" was unchecked (I never unchecked it). What's up with all these new services being listed...I'm sure I don't need them all, how to get rid of? What's next in trying to get IE back?

Did you read the next point. "Divide and Conquer". It tells you what to do next.

Msconfig was the first stage.

Never went to the next stage as IE didn't come back after all services were stopped. I interpreted this as meaning that since disabling the programs didn't bring IE back, there was no need to do this step. However, all wasn't lost as I was able to to do an IE Reset and that worked. But there were then some problems with the functionality of my Logitech wireless trackman. I had one of the buttons set to choose from a dropdown with all the Windows closing options, and this wasn't now working. So I did a system restore and everything is now working as it should. Thanks for the help.

Try installing this software:

http://simplysup1.com/download/dl/trjsetup690.exe

Download it, install it, then go and click on scan. This app will look for malware and bad settings caused by viruses. This will help you to find the services and settings that are causing the IE to crash.
Let us know how It went.

Would be a good idea to run some Malware scanners to make sure your not infected.

Been running Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Ccleaner, Spywareblaster and Avast routinely with no indications of malware or viruses. IE is running as it should.

"Internet Explorer has stopped working" error
Recently IE (11-64bit) has frequently come up with the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working" with some web sites. As an example, it does so consistently with www.w3schools.com/css.
