IE 11 home page not found 404

Even though I've correctly set my homepage in Internet Options and in the homepage flyout, IE 11 returns 'page not found #404' and will not load the homepage. Upon checking the Internet Options pane the homepage remains pasted in place.

I have the page set in the favorites column, and clicking it always brings up the correct page.

Haven't seen this addressed anywhere- must be simple but haven't stumbled on it yet. WTH?

Reset your page to anything else.
    See if it works
If it does go to tools, on toolbar then delete browsing history
    boot
    Then reset your page
What you have done is cleared the cache. That is previous versions of the page that you want. Yours has malfunctioned and needs to be reset.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
What website/ Homepage is giving you this error ?
Which Security do you use ?

Temp files delete run this as administrator and shut your machine down after,

To clear your cache as suggested,
    Open Internet explorer,
Use Alt+TD or Gear symbol on the top right and Safety/ Delete browser history,
Uncheck the top box and Check All others and Delete/ Apply and okay your way out,
    Close Internet explorer and re-open.

Reset Internet explorer if still having issues via the Start menu search option here,
Reset process first opening Internet explorer

Add the Run box to the Start menu list you can also use Winkey+R to open the Run box,

    more detail IE11 & Homepage

Homepage I've used since IE8 or earlier

    NOAA National Weather Service

I use Norton 360 basic security and have done for years. No previous issues.

I have had my Delete Browser History box set as recommended for years- delete at end of every session/day.

IE11 will allow newegg to be my homepage, but not the above link.

In fact the two homepage icons (one in the top tab bar, and the other in the standard toolbar) return different messages when the above link is selected in the homepage pane.

    Weird stuff.

    Thanks,

    M

    Interesting,
I would usually Open the webpage I wanted to have as a homepage,
Use Alt+TO or Gear symbol/ Internet options,
Click on Use current after clearing what ever else was in the Homepage box/ Apply and Okay.
    Close Internet explorer and reopen.
You can also right click the Home Icon and edit or change homepage but I've never used that method ?
    Cheers.
