Internet Explorer - "Remember my Credentials" option

    Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this option. The school computers go through a proxy server which requires a username and password to access. On the pop-up menu that prompts for the username and password, there's an option to remember the login credentials. On some computers, this will be checked by default and on others, it will be unchecked by default.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change whether it is checked or unchecked by default? I haven't been able to find an option to do so, and it's causing some teachers and students to save their credentials on the computers, which can be a security issue.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Hi mitchyd1989, welcome to Seven Forums.

Your problem is quite a tricky one.

As far as I know, the "Remember my credentials" check box should always be unchecked by default. Unless it has been checked by someone (in your case a teacher or a student).

Unfortunately there isn't really a way to completely disable this option, without having to go into really deep nitty gritty computer stuff.

But I have found some useful information on the web that you might like to have a look at:

Case Study ? How to Enable or Disable ?Remember my credentials? in IE in credential window. - AsiaTech: Microsoft APGC Internet Developer Support Team - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Otherwise I would suggest upgrading to Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, as these Internet Browsers don't have the "Remember my credentials" button and are 3x faster than Internet Explorer.

    I hope this helps :).
