    Looking for Desktop Email Notifier

I am a windows live mail user. I use my email very often, but I find that checking my email periodically a time consumer, especially when I have no emails. Back when windows messenger was still available, I would have it running in the background while my computer was idle and when I got an email I would get an alert.

I am looking for a program that will notify me of incoming emails specifically for windows live mail accounts. I've searched for a while but I keep finding myself with the answer of 'desktop email client'. From my understanding a desktop email client downloads the emails to your computer or at least a copy. I've used outlook/ windows mail desktop clients but I'm not too keen on using email clients as I prefer accessing my email though the web browser.

Are email clients the only way? I hope not. If someone can point me in the right direction of where to look, I greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I found a program for those who may be looking for solution for a similar problem. It is a program called Howard E-Mail Notifier. It does exactly what I was looking for. Sorry if I wasted anybodies time. Thank you.
