You still have 7 years to go before starting. That's when I started with PCs - and only because the wife wanted one, LOL.
This stuff is easier than most laymen think. You just have to put your mind to it.

Hi ThrashZone,
Sorry for the delay. Was occupied with the passing of a family member recently. I hope you didn't think I was being rude.
I have done the reset process for IE 10 you outlined here:
https://public.dm2301.livefilestore....rdrts=70975559
And did most of your tweaks here:
Internet explorer tweaks - Microsoft Community
Everything seems to be working fine. If I run into anymore problems with IE 10, I may be back. I'm thinking I'll stay with IE 10 for a while, as you suggest.
I your opinion, would updating the IE 8 in my XP Pro drive to IE 10 be a good idea or do you know a tutorial link on this? Or should I start another thread?
Thanks a million to you and everyone that has helped me here.
Cheers!
Hi Froffy you very welcome,
Sorry for your loss my sincere condolences,
ie10 on x-p is not possible nor is ie9 on x-p,
With Microsoft dumping support for x-p your best option is to use Firefox or Opera and never touch ie8 again,
Another option is to grab a win-7 oem disk asap there are still great deals at TigerDirect for Home Premium,
Take advantage of the deals,

Hi TZ,
Thanks for the heads-up on XP and IE versions. I didn't know that!
I already have the original XP Pro disc for backup. Wanted to keep XP because a lot of my software and all-in-one scanner/printer drivers don't work nice with Win 7. Also have Google Chrome & Firefox installed on the XP drive. I tried Opera a long time ago and didn't like it much. Or have they improved it in the last five years? LOL
I'll check your links to TigerDirect etc. Never know, might need a backup for the backup?
Best to you & evreyone helping us computer challenged peeps.
Cheers!
Hi no problem Froggy,
I can't remember which version of window 7 has x-p mode ?
Look at the spec's for win-7 Professional on the first link if not look into win-7 Ultimate a little more of course which I did not see Ultimate listed there but win-7 is a better option,
Cheers.
Yep Professional is what you would want to run x-p mode :)
OK, thanks TZ,
So does this mean that if I run Win 7 in XP mode, I could then install the printer/software & other programs and they would work?
I'm currently running Win 7 - Ultimate.
That's what the assertion would imply,
Actually it was listed in the overview but yes,
Ultimate I believe has a bunch of language packs and one other feature that most people don't need,
Professional is more popular although for the most part home premium does the job for the majority of users not you with older printer... but Professional should cover that base, for about 40 bucks more +-
Cheers.

OK, Thanks TZ, good to know!
Cheers!
Always a pleasure Froggy,
If you want post the system spec's of the x-p machine,
It might be best to ask a new question with the spec's posted for the x-p machine,
Just ask in the General section and the administrators can review it for a appropriate section to move it to for you,
Cheers.
