The Chrome Browser will not start after installation

Google Chrome will not start aftewr I installed It. Click on the icon and a hourglass displays for about a half second.
Installed Java and Shockwave less than an hour ago.
Tried to start in Safe Mode. Nada.
    Any ideas?

Stopped both the Firewall and anti-virus. Did not make any difference.
    Restarted the Firewall and AV.

When you click to start it, then look in task manager and see if chrome.exe is running. If so, click it again, is there now a 2nd instance as well?

What happens if you go to the installation folder and click on the chrome.exe there? Right click and Open? Right click and Run as administrator?

All other browsers working OK? Perhaps it did not install correctly?

I found this article about issues the author had. It has paths to various files, not sure if any help for your troubleshooting

You might try the portable version (no installation required). Does that work?

Installed Chrome several times. Yes, Foxfire works fine.
Finally removed all vestiges of Chrome and installed Chromium Portable. So far, it works fine. Will give it a few days to see what might happen.

Portable Chrome wasn't working very well, inspite of what I said in last post. Roboform wouildn't work. The new Chromecast would not work. So I uninstalled it.
    I read all the links provided by "A Guy" in his last post. Tried all of them with no luck. However, this is what I did do;

Used the alternate installer to install Chrome for all users. After the Chrome icon appeared I tried to start Chrome, but it would not start.
Found the Chrome Installation Log.txt in folder C:\USERS\myname\appdata\local\temp\
Copied the log to the desktop and named it 1st time .txt
Deleted the crome installation log from C:]users\myname\appdata\local\temp\
Uninstalled Chrome that I had just installed.

Repeated the above paragraph two more times except I named the saved installation logs as 2nd time and 3rd time.
I now had installed Chrome from the same installer three times and had created three installation logs.
Compared the installation logs and found that they had a different number of errors. 1st time had 10 errors, 2nd time had 11 errors and 3rd time had 9 errors. I have no idea what this means.
Compared some of the verbage in the errors and found that, some of them were different. Again, I don't know what this means.
I don't know where to go from here.

I'm wondering if something is blocking part of the installation. You might try installing in Safe Mode, that would mitigate the possibility of something interfering. A Guy

Installed Portable App Platform and it's portable chrome. (PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives) Seems to be working OK. I'll give it a few more days.
