Windows 7: Browser does not connect websites unless I re-enter URL or hit F5

Browser does not connect websites unless I re-enter URL or hit F5

This problem started about a month ago. Many sites (not all) will not connect anymore unless I re-enter the URL or press F5 repeatedly. A few sites will not connect at all.

Downloads give a message that the file or program cannot be downloaded, but if I press “try again”, it says resuming, then proceeds to download the file.

The computer is a custom built ASUS less than 6 months old. Setup:
SSD 128 (with 1TB HD)
16GB ram
Asus B85M-E motherboard
Asus GeFroce GTX650 1GB graphics card
Win7 home premium
IE9

I couldn't locate the problem, so I bought a new 1TB Seagate HD, loaded Win7 Professional and installed IE11, hoping this would solve the problem. But it's still happening, with even more sites not connecting until I re-enter the URL or press F5 a few times. I shut off the anti-virus programs with no change.

Two different drives, two different browsers, two different versions of windows, same problem...

Note: I noticed on the ASUS website that there are several updates for the B85M-E motherboard; would that have anything to do with my problem? (You may have noticed that I'm not a computer expert.)

Any ideas would be appreciated,

Sunson9

You may want to do a malware scan. Try Malwarebytes, free version.

Hi,
What's the other browser used ?
See what this does,
Use No Add-ons mode/ Click the Start button and type in the search box,
Internet explorer

Click on the suggestion (No Add-ons) or it’s located at,
Start/ All programs/ Accessories folder/ System tools folder/ No add-ons.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-10-win-7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/How-to-manage-add-ons-in-Internet-Explorer-9
If using ie10 the first link will apply to ie9 as well,
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-crashes-stops-working#ie=ie-10-win-7

Activate EPM if on a 64 bit version of windows,

Add the Run box to the Start menu list,

Open the Run command and Paste this into it and Okay,
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

Thanks for the quick replies...

1. I run malwarebytes daily and have had no hits 'til today, when it detected a Pup file (attached).
2. The SSD setup is running win7 home premium 64 with IE9. This same file showed up yesterday on the win7PRO 64 setup. I have removed both files.
3. The Seagate 1TB HD is running win7 PRO 64 with IE11
4. Both drives have been running IE in no add-ons mode.
5. I tried to look at the suggested sites you list, but couldn't acess the Microsoft sites...I was unable to see the text on the videos (blurred).
6. I use a Logitek trackball wheel and it has been (and still is) working with the SSD/win7 home64. When I loaded it on the Seagate/win7PRO64/IE11 setup it worked correctly. Today when I booted up, win7pro64 opened OK, but the mouse is frozen and I have no way to open the program or access anything. This happened 2 days ago and I had to reformat the drive and reload everything...same thing happened today...different problem?
7. I ran "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff ...what does extoff mean...sorry for the ignorance.

Hi,
No problem,
It means Extensions Off,
You can also use,
iexplore.exe -extoff
You might also use this free scanner,
Post the scan results,
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here on post#7,
Ignore the title of the thread,

Accessing websites without a browser
Hello all! So I have a friend that cannot access the internet. It is not a network stack issue, it was a user issue instead involving mucking up IE and deleting Chrome. There is or at least used to be a way to access a specific website I think from the help screen, but I cant seem to find it. It...

Browser keeps forgetting how to get to websites...
I have a strange networking problem - my browsers seem to keep forgetting where certain websites are, but just for a couple of minutes at a time. So I can be happily browsing a website, then suddenly it will just start timing out and I won't be able to access at all for 2-3 minutes, then all of...
