    Hi,
    Personally I would try this,
    Create a new administrator account,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/181024-user-account-create.html
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account
If the issue does not occur in new user account then refer the following link to fix the corrupted user account.

    Hi,
Until Andrew returns possibly you should roll back to ie10 or which ever version you had before updating to ie11,
    Use Option 2,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313358-internet-explorer-11-uninstall-windows-7-a.html
Please also post which security suite you have installed and use the link above my signature picture to Fill in your system spec's page
    Cheers.

For the record in the Run command box you would type iexplore.exe not internet explorer.

    no internet explorer

Morning to you both.i am struggling with all this at the moment so i am going to put it on hold.
i have a user account in my name so if i create another i think that will just confuse me more.
i tried uninstalling I.E 11 and taking it back to I.E 10, when it rebooted it came back on as I.E8.
when i tried my icons on desktop nothing worked. no emails//no Google //no Firefox// nothing.
i had to restore my computer back to a couple of days' before. then i tried installing Google Chrome.
it said it couldn't' install it there was a error.tried it again on a different site ,and it went on ok.
so as i said i am going to leave things alone for now see if it settles down .i want to thank you both
for all your help but i think a lot of it scares me ,and it is over my head so for now ,
    THANKS
    i appreciate all your help.

    Hi,
I believe you simply jumped too many versions,
Take it in baby steps one version at a time,
Run updates after each version starting with ie9,
    Only accept the Important updates,
Which means you need to make sure your windows update settings are possibly different,
Uncheck the box to Give you Recommended updates the same as Important ones,
This will make it easer to figure out Important ones out from recommended ones and Optional ones,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2797-windows-update-settings-change.html
ie9 download select your windows version and language,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-9/worldwide-languages
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-10/worldwide-languages
