Firefox updated today.

What do you guys think of the new update?

Personally, I think it spends to much time looking like its trying to be chrome. For a stupid reason. The file menu does everything the 3 lines do. Does not make much sense. And For some reason, firefox is no longer as customizable as before. I am unable to move the back button and the 3 lines where I want it.

I am thinking about trying the options in this thread:

waterfox-anyone out there use it and love it?

Or chrome. Chrome is looking really good right now.

Tell firefox what you think from this survey by them!

Chrome is a non-starter for me as long as it fails to implement sidebars.

A couple of extensions I've found useful for Firefox 29 are:

Australis Slimmr (I enable only the "Tabs in TitleBar" option.)
Classic Theme Restorer (Restores the rectangular tabs and removes the tab "background" fog, which I really need for one of my Firefox profiles that always has about 30 tabs open.)

Other than that, it's not much different to me. I don't miss the orange Firefox button in the upper left, and the "Slimmr" addon makes the tabs take up all the room there instead, even when Firefox isn't maximized. I continue to use these great addons:

Adblock Plus
All-in-One Sidebar
DownloadHelper
Greasemonkey (for Google Hit Hider)
NoScript
Tab Mix Plus

Thanks for your response.

After using it for awhile, I noticed the lag and performance improved. So that is nice. All my addons worked fine as well, but I think that is because it is not a huge upgrade, just a minor behind the scenes and gui changes.

Whoa! Definitely a new look.

I like some of the customization options they have added, although I don't think I'll use the 3 bars button as much as the menu bar.

It does look a bit similar to Google Chrome...

Did not like the new look at first and loss of the add on bar at the bottom where the no squint add on must reside was almost a deal breaker, but with Classic Theme Restorer that also includes the add on bar and compatible black theme(s) such as the Lavafox/Blackfox series or experimental Nasa NightLaunchNext beta I am back in business.

It is also a lot easier to drag an icon where you want it when customizing and the sync feature is greatly improved also.

Suggest waiting for the alternatives to be updated. Cyberfox is usually updated pretty quickly - within a day or two but Waterfox tends to lag behind with updates. Personally I'll wait for the Cyberfox vesion 29 update.

Or take a look at Aviator as suggested by member A.Guy here:

The most SECURE browser?

Chrome still has way too many privacy issues as far as I'm concerned.

Would it be wise to continue using Firefox 28? I like 28 the way it is, with some of my extensions on the navigation toolbar as well as the add-on bar. They're easy to access that way. I don't want that layout to change.

FireChrome with Asstralis is a joke.

I've been using Pale Moon x64 for years. The dev says he's keeping the old GUI, toolbars, themes, status bar, and all customizations intact. And.... no fast track (read shitty) half baked updates.

The big Moz is screwing desktop users in favor of touchscreen and mobile users.

It's Pale Moon for me.... if you are leaving FireChrome, give this one a shot.

I've been using the new look version since it first came to the Nightly channel. I didn't really care for it, and quickly changed its look back to the old classic style with tools that have been mentioned here. Classic Theme Restorer along with Classic Toolbar Buttons, and I'm right back to my nice classic Firefox. It would be nice of Mozilla if they gave the option to use both the classic and new look instead of forcing it on the users.
