email account hacked, and receiving spam

i use microsoft outlook for my email accounts
i have two email accounts. to simplify things, we will name them 1 and 2. account 1 gets forwarded to 2.
recently, i started getting advertisements at account 1, weight loss, etc... i checked account 2, which is a gmail account, and none of these emails are forwarded to there, not even in the spam folder.
i therefore thought maybe, my account on my computer was hacked, and somewhere on the computer they are sending these spams, i therefore deleted the account (1), searched all leftovers from that account, and deleted them, and then started the same account in outlook from scratch.
and again, all the above didn't help, i still receive the above spam.
none of my friends reported receiving from my account spam.

let me point put, even though i have many email accounts in outlook, the above is the only one i receive spam, but it was my default email account.
i am not sure if the computer was compromised, or the account.

the question being, is there a way to get rid of these advertisements, and do i have to worry that something else on my computer got compromised.

    thanks in advanced.

I honestly dont think its anything to get totally over excited about. I use outlook as my main email program on my computer also and my ISP is suppose to have a pretty good control over not letting spam and junk through to my inbox. But; even with that sometimes thing still slip past their filter somehow even as strong as it is.

Spam is everywhere. I use Outlook, my wife uses Outlook, I also have a hotmail account Any e-mail program can get it. Its not fuction of the e-mail program. Your e-mail address was either "sold" by some site and it has got around to various Spam generation sites. It could even have been "farmed" from an e-mail that someone else sent out that didn't use the "BCC" so all the addressees were hidden.

However, as first line, I use Mailwasher Pro and I can filter Spam there and it will never get to my PC.

If your account was sending spam that would be a sign it was hacked.

As mentioned above though, receiving spam is just an annoyance and a sign that someone got your email address and it ended up in the wild.

    thanks for all the replies
my major flag was, why these emails were not forwarded to my 2 gmail account, as all other emails, i therfore thought maybe it is a computer issue, that my main email account was hijacked.

i really appreciate all your time

fireberd - i am checking out at the moment, your suggestion of "Mailwasher Pro", it looks pretty good. thanks
