Internet explorer offline storage stuck to 0mb

Hi guys, I have a problem with my outlook. Images will not display in emails. I tried all the usual tricks but tracked it down to an issue with internet explorer.

when i go to options, general, browsing history, the size is stuck to 0. I have read a few forums on trying to move the location, kill it in the registry and things but nothing has worked. Everything seems to point to the fact I need to create a new user profile. I have too much crap on my system to want to do that. I don't use IE as a browser so I suspect if I was it would be causing a lot more issues.Is there anything I can try else to fix this issue? ( I won't link to other forum sites, btu a google of ie temp folder stuck at 0 will give you many results of the issue)

I won't create a new profile, but I will consider moving to thunderbird instead of outlook. I have 50k emails in my inbox hence not wanting to create a new profile and migrating all the data!

I'm no email or Outlook expert but have you thought of your
email storage is full and will not except any more.
50,000 emails is a lot.

I don't even know how one gathers 50,000 emails.

Well the emails are archived into separate pst files. so the actual size of my working pst file is very low. But I can still access older emails it just takes a bit longer to load them. The pst file is well under a gig. So with archiving enabled, the only limitation is hard drive space which i have plenty.
