Need help choosing between Opera & Google Chrome

I've been a Firefox user since it's inception, and while I've always been happy with it I feel my once crash free sleek browser with the new tabbed browsing that no ones ever heard of has changed and now has occasional crashes, with faster browsers with the same features available.

So I've decided to change at the same time I'm upgrading from XP to Win7 64 bit. The problem is no matter how many articles I read, I can't choose between Google Chrome and Opera 10.01. I've downloaded both but until I spend a good amount of time with them I'm sure I'm missing most of the features of both. Currently I like the look of Opera more, and feel it has more features available, but then I'm swayed by the constant articles I read claiming Google Chrome is faster and Opera is even slower than Firefox 3 (which it seems faster if anything to myself so far).

the performance difference is negligible. What difference does it make if the page loads in 900 milliseconds or 800 milliseconds? You aren't going to notice a difference. At least I don't.

Besides, they're all free. Install and use them all

If you take the time to familiarize yourself with Opera, there is no better browser available. Most who don't care for it take one look at the interface and turn away, but it can be easily customized to look just about any way that you want. Beyond that, Opera has features that are not to be found anywhere else.

    It is lightweight and fast

As it installs, Opera will do most anything that any other browser will do, and do it more securely and better. As for any "addons" or tweaks, there is nothing complicated about them. It just takes a bit of patience while familiarizing one's self with them. After that, a clean install of the browser, followed by the appropriate tweaks only takes minutes.

I have IE, FF, GC, and O installed. I use IE ONLY when I have to. I am more familiar with FF than any of them but I have started using GC more. I like the fact that you use the address bar for searching too. They are all getting faster all the time. Like sup3rsprt said, they are all free. Try um all before you decide.

I hope that there is more reason for you to choose Chrome than just using the address bar to search. Opera has had that ability as long as I can remember.

I'm using all three. I've used Opera in the past and didn't like it as well as FF but I did install it to see how the newer version works. I have GC on here because it's simple to use with less options. I need that for my wife. Keeps her out of my hair with less questions.

Simplicity is certainly to be desired, except when function is sacrificed...even with the spousal aspect. Actually, what many perceive as complexity is what gives Opera the ultimate simplicity, once you know how to use it.

There are a number of features that make surfing the internet easier with Opera, but my favorite is it's speeddial. I have 60 websites set on mine with custom logos, so that I can go to most of the websites that I'm likely to want to, by a one simple click, that I don't have to search through a myriad of bookmarks to find...This forum being one of them.
