IE8 web page links fail to work

Win 7 home premium 32 bit
IE8
Mcafee Total Protection 4

Converted over from Vista 32 bit and all was working fine except for a secure website issue (another post re this soon). To er fix I thought a reset of IE was called for so did it.

Something happened and all HyperText Transfer Protocol links say the blue ones on the page in the body of the text will not open the page.

see www.overclockers.com.au and the blue active links in the news do not open.

I confirme dthis on several other sites.so wonder what setting is necessary to activate this.

The protocol is defaulted to IE in the associations

Any thoughts appreciated.

Did a search and bogged down at about 4 pages deep
