    IE icons everywhere

I have read some of the threads here already and the problem I am having is similar, but different. I've removed my AV software and have changed a few of the advanced settings as some threads have said. All program icons on my desktop show the Internet Explorer icons but won't open. When clicked, they open up "view downloads" and asks if I want to run or save. When I click run a box flashes, then goes away simultaneously another line comes up duplicating the original line. I've tried to use command prompt but it sends me back to the downloads box as well and won't open. I can't use anything at all. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would definitely go for the all in one zip extensions fix in the prior link Andrew posted,

Default Windows 7 File Extension Types:

    Note
To download all available file extension fixes below in one ZIP folder, click on the Download button below and save the ZIP file to your desktop. Open the ZIP file, and extract (drag and drop) the REG file for the file extension you want to restore to your desktop. Now you could just pick up at step 3 above.
