Unusual Activity in your account popup?

I'm getting a popup when I start WLM-"We have noticed some unusual activity in your account. Your action is needed to make sure no one else is using your account" Then it tells me to continue, click OK. I checked and this is not a Microsoft notice but I do not know how to stop it from popping up. I tried to change my password in WLM but I seem to be having trouble with that operation. Can anyone help; I can still receive and send emails after I click on the 'Cancel' button. Have I been hacked? I'm using WLM 2012 Build 16.4.3528.0331/Windows 7 Home with all the updates. Thanks all who reply

Hi leppy99, do you get the same or similar message when you access your mail account directly?

I have what appears to be exactly the same problem. I can access my email directly. I can access it through WLM I just keep getting this popup. I don't get it when I access it directly though.

Roderunner: Thanks for the reply. I use a shortcut on my desktop and the program in the start menu they both exhibit the same thing; WLM is not a Hotmail account(Shelbyclan) but I figure it is a revamping of Outlook(or Outlook Express) and I noticed this problem within the last week. I'm not sure on how to access WLM directly. I just cancel the popup and the program starts OK.

You can access Hotmail through WLM if set up correctly. To access your email directly you most likely have to go to your providers website. For instance my email is at at&t.net a while back yahoo got involved so to access my email directly I have to go through yahoo.

I went here: Windows Essentials: Other Programs - Microsoft Windows and typed "We have noticed some unusual activity in your account. Your action is needed to make sure no one else is using your account" into the search window. That lead me here: Search Results - Microsoft Windows
where I clicked the link below Community Results "how do i fix error code 800488fe i tried to verify my ..." that took me here: how do i fix error code 800488fe i tried to verify my account but - Microsoft Community from there I clicked on "page" below How do I regain access to my accounts and make sure I’m safe?

That lead me to change my password. I did so following their instructions to verify. When I next opened my email through WLM I got a popup saying my password was wrong. I changed it there and all is good. No more annoying popup.

Shelbyclan: Your post that I followed seemed to do the trick- THANKS!! Now all I have to do is try to remember the new password. Would you know if the process changes the account setting in WLM? So when I go to the setting in the account I don't mess things up worse that they were. Thanks again.

All of my settings remained unchanged I just had to impute my new password when I opened WLM. It saved it as it did when I originally set it all up.
