Open IE8 normally and manually disable your add-ons:

Internet Explorer 8: Help and support

    Look for How do I add/remove toolbars? And/or add-ons?

After you do that, close IE and open it again. Enable one add-on, close, open. Keep doing this until you find the add-on that's causing the problem.

I cleared the cache but it did not help. I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Is there a known issue with KIS and IE 8?
I have had problems with Kaspersky at least with Windows XP and would take 3 minutes to load Internet Explorer. I took it off and sure enough IE started up in flash.. So I don't know if this was a know issue with KIS but I just removed and put something else on it... I have not install KIS on Windows 7 or Vista so I really don't know if it is the same issue as XP.. Like other posters said before I would at least disable or unstall it and see if IE loads faster..and also go through and disable add-ons you don't need..like kegobeer suggested

    Hope this Helps..

After a lot of fiddling with all the add-ons, I finally found the culprit behind my slow IE 8. The add-on which was causing the problem is *drum roll*:
Java (tm) Plug-in 2 SSV Helper.

I was surprised to see this as the culprit as Java is known to working well with IE in the past. Is it just me who is having this problem with Java plug-in?
