Reloaded W7 And Now Having Problems With Internet Explorer

I recently decided to revert back to W7 after trying to work with W8 for a year.

I managed to reload W7 after changing a few BIOS settings which enable legacy OS to work on my HP Laptop.

W7 loaded fine, and I have all the drivers I needed from the HP website.

Problem I have is in relation to network connections;

I have tried this using a hard wired LAN through my router and using WIFI. The same problems occur.

And my main PC using LAN and other laptops my family use all work fine as they always have. So I have narrowed this down to my new W7 installation.

Problem is this;

1. I have a full WIFI signal.
2. I am using IE 11.
3. W7 Home Premium 32 Bit.
4. Click on IE icon and it opens a webpage.
5. Then it randomly stops working and says IE has stopped working and closes or...
6. I click on IE and get a message saying "This Page Cannot Be Displayed"

It seems IE is working on and off.

All other PCs and laptops are working fine.

I tried the ipconfig/release and renew but it makes no difference.

Anybody have any suggestions ?

Regards

Simon

Thanks for the suggestion which did not work.

I may have more problems than I first thought.

Avast will not load onto the machine and the display drivers are crashing regularly.

Maybe I have messed something up in the bios !

Will I ever get my W7 back.

I will see what settings are in the bios to see if I messed it up !

Hi you can see if disabling gpu rendering helps ?
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/149063-internet-explorer-gpu-hardware-acceleration-turn-off.html

Owe just to be clear this machine had win-7 to begin with ?
If so how did you come to load win-8 exactly ?

Tried the GPU rendering option - it was unselected anyway.

Also checked the bios and all I did was select legacy option to boot so the pc hard drive is booting the operating system, not sure what UEMI means but its something to do with the old W8 I had on my pc.

Its not running as it should and I may try and reinstall again to see if something went wrong during installation stage.

Unless there are any tools or utilities out there that somebody may suggest I try.

Thanks to all

Simon

Hi I believe the point was to switch to software rendering
Did you use a new activation key for win-8 ?
Was it a upgrade or full version ?

The laptop came with W8 on it and I hate it.

So went back to W7 which I had a licence for.

I am reloading W7 on laptop today as I think I may have tried some drivers for the wireless device that were for W8.

That could be part of the problem.

You might consider starting over if you recently changed from Win8 - Win7.

Download your Ethernet LAN driver to a CD or flash drive - that's the only driver you really need (so you can get to the internet)

Windows Update does a very good job of providing most of the other drivers. You might need the chipset drivers and Bluetooth - not sure - but let Win7 supply everything it can - then backfill any missing ones.

It's all in the tutorial.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Sure beats spending days trying to sort out the list of drivers that are wrong and the errors that that causes. I normally recommend a clean reinstall when the member has recently done and install (your case) or there is no other choice. It's usually faster and cleaner.

Good luck - that's all I have for this thread.

Thanks for all the help.

I did reload W7 again. And let the Windows Updater do its thing.

I also made sure I have a W7 driver for the wireless device which I think caused the problem last time (was a W8 driver).

All up and running lovely now.
