Outlook Express on Windows 7?

I agree, Live Mail isn't to my liking either. Windows Mail ala Vista would be a fantastic optional downoad via update I reckon. Same goes for Windows Calendar.

Windows Mail is ok, but I had some issues with that too. Like email addresses not automatically completing etc.

For me Outlook Express was simple and efficient. What more do you want.

The only complaint I had with Windows Mail was that it was slow to start. Other than that everything seemed to work fine.

OE was fast, simple and easy to use.

Bit of a shame MS ditched some sort of email client...

Yeah, OE was excellent and I can't stomach either Windows Mail or Live Mail.

Thunderbird is quite good and can be easily configured to look and behave much like Outlook Express.

I have been an Outlook Express/Windows Mail user for a very long time. I have MANY email folders created to store emails from many different sources. I need to find an email client that is as easy as
outlook express, and will IMPORT the folders I have currently in Outlook express on my vista system. I have tried thunderbird and I could live with it, but I can't find a way to get it to recognize my mail folders. Any ideas? Thanks

I exported a bunch of mail folders from my previous mail application and then tried to import them using Tbird's import capability.

Didn't work very well--I ended up with a bunch of weird folders, etc.

I solved it by only exporting the bare minimum and therefore importing the bare minimum.

You might try consolidating your current mail folders into one big folder like "saved mail" or something, exporting that, importing that into Tbird, and then re-distributing to individual folders after they are safely in Tbird.

That's just a guess on how it might work. I agree that getting mail folders from one app to another can be a pain.

I couldn't wish Outlook Express further, with it's lousy archivage system and handful of longstanding bugs which it has sported for years! Not only that, but privacy wise even deleted messages were still there in the archives and easily viewable.

Windows Mail didn't really change much, and nor does Windows Live Mail. However I'm confident that Pocomail is a far better (and safer) email client, and that MS Office has still got Outlook for those who prefer that.
