IE does not respond while clicking on download link

When i attempt to download a file or as a matter of fact any file IE does not respond , however i have noticed one thing that under IE>security, when i click on custom level, i see file download option disabled, and the worst part is it is grayed out, therefore cannot make any changes..there is a very good chance that it has been disabled from group policy, can you help me change the group policy..

Would you be so kind as to elaborate on that answer?

If you have the time could you elaborate on what you have done to alleviate your problem? It would be most helpful not only to myself, but to any other member that may find themselves in a similar situation.

It does no one any good to see a thread marked solved only to see that the solution is "i ultimately got the answer.... "

Did it have something to do with:

    • Group Policy?

    • Changing Security settings in Internet Explorer?

    • Resetting Internet Explorer to its default setting?

    • Was it an add-on you had installed?

    • Did you re-install the operating System (OS)?

    • Something entirely different?

    Please elaborate.

I am really sorry, pardon my selfishness and ignorance, i promise to never do this the next time, like i side that, under IE>Internet options>security tab, click on custom level, i found out that the file download option was disabled, and on top of that it was grayed out due to group policy..

    Solution:

    open gpedit.msc, navigate to computer configuration>administrative templates>windows components>internet explorer>internet control panel>security page>internet zone>allow file downloads.

when i select open file downloads it was enabled and the file downloads was set to disabled, i changed it to not configured, this way file download option in the custom level was no more greyed out and i could enable it from there.

    dhan'yavāda hmalhotra009, Namastē.

In your original post you asked for help with Group Policy (GP). If you have anymore situations where you need help to make changes to GP you could refer to this: Local Group Policy Editor - Open, and check at the bottom of that tutorial under Related Tutorials to see more about GP.
There is an extensive list of Tutorials here and sometimes it can be difficult to try and find the proper one you need, I usually start my searches here: Windows 7 Tutorials | Quick Reference Index

I apologize if I sounded too harsh in my last post; Sometimes a person needs guidance to do what is proper, and that includes me.

    You are most welcome!

It is good that you do have the instincts of a child within you, as children's hearts are open and able to accept or reject what is placed before them.
I can only guide you towards the light, it is within you to either accept or reject.

Since it is difficult for me to fully understand your background; "cultura animi" i.e. the cultivation of the soul, I am going to contact another member through a Private Message (PM) to help us.
You or I will receive a PM in return or there may be a post here. In the interest of openness I would prefer here.

    Enjoy the day!
