Windows 7: Browsers Vey Slow

Browsers Vey Slow

Last week I had a catastrophic failure. I donít need to get into details but bottom line is that Windows 7 (x64) had to be completely installed from scratch. My buddy at the shop had the foresight to save all my data files before formatting and installing. Everything is back running well except my browser. IE11 takes forever to load a page. I thought it might be an IE problem so I installed Firefox but had the same end result. When a page is called (either a new page or a refresh) it takes a good 5 or 6 seconds for the page to display. BTW it never did this on the previous installation. Iíve run several speed tests with an average result of 5.5 down and 1.4 up. My connection is cable with 5/1 so speed is not an issue. I am connected to a Linksys E3000 router with a hard wire connection, the router being used as a WiFi network for my motel guests. I canít find anything thatís not configured correctly and itís driving me nutz! Anybody have any ideas?
As always, Comments or Flames welcome.
Tnx,
Dusty

You could boot to Safe Mode and see if it's better there. If it is then proceed with a Clean boot/startup:

Actually no, DNS has never been an issue. Time warner has always (last several years anyway) been on top of that sort of thing. DNS has never been an issue in the any of my past setups so I never worried about it. I could try a different server if nothing else pans out. I'm thinking more along the lines of a conflict of some sort. If that don't work out I'll try DNS server changes. Oh, BTW, I did test that theory a bit. Tried loading a page by name and by IP address, there was no difference.
Thanks,
Dusty

How do trace routes and pings look? What about nic drivers? Any special firewalls or security software/browser plugins?

Windows Explorer and now Browsers slow / timing out
These two issues may or may not be related, but both seem to have started recently: Windows Explorer (not Internet explorer) just sits there for ages (several minutes) before actually displaying the contents of my computer. The structure on the left is all there but the right side where all...

Suddenly very slow browsing, all browsers
Since two days ago all my browsers function very slow. A new tab can take 15 seconds to open, typing in addressbar has very long delay (I type an address and hit Enter, it takes up to 20 seconds for first letter to appear, then other letters appear one in every 0.5 to 1 second). Typing this post...

Slow Browsers Startup
Hi, Recently I have noticed that IE9 and Firefox 5 take a really long time to load up on startup, whereas Opera loads up instantly on startup. I have tried disabling all add-ons for both these browsers, as well as disabling all startup entries to see if these have an effect. I have also ran...
