    re: garbage popups on Firefox

1st off this is a Gateway laptop model md2614u, os Win7 home 32 bits.
About 2 days ago I completed reinstalling everything on the C drive (I did a partition wipe) because the C hard drive was full of useless folders, files and other garbage (did do a backup of anything that needed to be saved, like txt's, pictures and so on.). It was dragging overall windows speed very close to (in flying talk) stall speed, same with the internet speed. So I wiped the partition clean and started reinstalling everything including the Win7 OS from the protected backup cd's. Now just 2 days after re-installing everything it is starting up again. Windows speed hasn't been effected yet, but give it time. FireFox is already slower than a snail in the Boston marathon. And unwanted popups, unwanted tabs opening with all kinds of junk that have nothing to do with what I am working on. 1) How do I stop these attack's short of wiping the hard drive clean again. My fire wall/antivirus software is from Zone Alarm.

Hi Steve ... Download the Programs from the Links below and sun a Scan ...

    AdwCleaner Download

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

IMO Zone Alarm is not a great Program ... Windows Firewall is quite adequate ...

I would also suggest you Install a Antivirus Program of your choice ...

The prog's you told me to download (bellow) didn't do anything. But I did stumble on the problem. ZoneAlarm had a cliche in it and need to be uninstalled/reinstalled. That solved the problem (closed the hole in the dike) for now. Probably down the road a long ways when the hd gets filled with junk again. I will have to wipe the hd clean again.
