Ok Brian just that I have used a bit just recently with some success:)
Not the rescue disk Jesse it is free and there are more if you look here Download Free Bootable Rescue Disks from Popular Antivirus Companies - AskVG
but I use the Kaspersky one it is fairly thorough I have tried the others
If you need a good site for any info snot just see here too - go to home and search Search results for Gizmo's Freeware website
Can you please explain to me what the rescue disk does and what I need to do to get it?
Yes sorry late reply had to get to work.
Now just click on the link download to downloads then just burn the .exe to a CD - you can do that using the Windows burner feature (easiest) or ImgBurn .
Once that is done reboot the machine and go into the BIOS and set the boot order number 1 to the optical drive go to exit when it asks do you want to do - make sure you choose save changes and exit then hit enter / OK.
The machine will then boot up and pick the boot from the disk you have just burnt it starts up after you hit any key - if you leave it for more than a few seconds it will revert back to booting from the hard drive.
You will then see the application start up - just let it run. Any rubbish anywhere on the computer including the RAM and various hardware etc will be checked.
When done it should reboot to Windows even if you leave the disk in and let those few seconds run out but it is a good idea to take it out once done and after a reboot you can go back and set the BIOS back to first boot device hard drive.
It does not take that long to run in fact no more than a few minutes.
Can I download it to a USB?
Sorry late reply mate busy at work yes absolutely just set the BIOS to boot from the USB port:)
