    IE hanging around with 1.1GB+

I noticed unusually high RAM usage on my CPU/RAM gadget. When I checked that in Resource Monitor there were over 1.1GBs for the IE.exe although the IE was not even running. I had used the IE half an hour earlier but not at that time. I killed the process and things got back in order.

However, I am still a bit puzzled how a program that is not even running can take that much RAM. Any suggestions ??

I am still running IE9 because I need my gadgets to supervise the system. One of those smart MS ideas to kill the gadgets with IE11. I rarely use the IE because my default browser is Chrome and I also have Chromium and Safari.

Can you try IE10? I'd at least want the latest one which supports gadgets.

I tried IE10. It does not install on my system - go figure. I use the IE so rarely that does not really matter. The IE11 does install, but then I have the gadget problem.

And the other gadgets you once linked work in 8.1 and 10 with IE11, but not in 7. Another mystery.

I gave up on IE10 and IE11 in Windows 7. I used the official download for IE10 at the time and IE11 came with the updates and pummeled my gadgets. If I want to use IE11, I run my 8.1 or 10TP. Else I have all those other browsers.

Here I used the IE9 once and had this 1.1GB RAM usage even half an hour after I had shut the IE9 down. I have no explanation for that.
