Set Google.co.uk as default search

Hi

Last year, when searching for the above title using google.co.uk, I used to get a result which pointed me to a thread on this forum and, several posts down, was a link to a page which had a simple shortcut which set google.co.uk as my default search provider in ie11.

Now I can't find it. Does anyone know where that post or even the location of the link is?

It's almost as if it's been removed or blocked by MS.

I can't stand Bing as I never get a sensible response even on simple MS matters.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. In the top right corner of the search box, click the down arrow.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select Google.
  5. Click Add to Internet Explorer.
  6. Check the box next to"Make this my default search provider."
  7. Click Add.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, that only gives the options for google.com. I want google.co.uk.

It was easy last year, but this year....

I tell a lie. Google.com is hidden amongst Cut the Rope, High Def Wallpaper, globalDoodle, etc which, of course, everyone uses as a Search Engine.

Recently, there used to be a button at the top of the Google.co.uk page which just required a simple click.

See this thread:

What's blocking Google search from being added in IE11?

I had the same issue on my home based machine and also my machine at work.

Don't know what I have done, but Google used to suggest search items for me. For some reason it does not do it now. Cannot figure this out. I don't remember changing anything. Cannot figure how to fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Chuck

How do I change the default search engine of IE to Google?
It's on Bing. Is Bing any better than Google btw?

Is there a way to set Google UK as default search provider in IE?
I'm using IE10, but this applies to IE9 also. Getting rather annoyed with the .com search results instead of co.uk. There doesn't appear to be an add-on in iegallery.com  Anyone know how to change it? :sarc:
