Internet Explorer has cookies, but I never use IE.

Each time I do a malware or anti-virus scan, I see the scan go to C:/Windows/Users/AppData/Local/Cookies/IE

And there are lots of files after that.

I never use IE. Either Mozilla or Chrome. How is it that I have cookies in IE?

Also, is there a way to delete IE from the PC?

    Thank you.

Windows components and third party applications can create IE cookies. IE is more than just a browser but is essentially part of the OS. In theory it can be removed but this is usually a bad idea. Windows components and other applications may use IE components and if not present they will fail.

Believe it or not every browser add-on you install in one browser may also end up in another.
You can see what happens and turn ie off in windows features on or off if you wish too,
Just type that in the start menus search box.
