Access browser history via ipconfig

Recently my IE browser was updated & it appears it deleted my browser history. I am trying to reaquire an old weblink. I was able to access index.dat, but it appears it only goes back 3 weeks which is the setting I have for browser history to delete weblinks. I attempted ipconfig /displaydns which to my understanding would display all browser history even the deleted links. It appears to display only recent activity.

Does IE purge the cache when updated? Is there another tool or am I not employing ipconfig correctly.

Any advice?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but your understanding of the dns cache is incorrect. The dns cache is only short term. As the information contained could become obsolete in a relatively short period of time it makes no sense to retain it for long.
