Recommendations for simple email program for W7 pro 32 bit & XP pro.

    Hi,:)

I'm looking for a Simple, like Outlook Express, to run on MY PC's with W7 pro 32 bit & XP pro.
NO interested in chatting, social media, smart phones, etc, etc, no time or interest.
NO interest in any form of web mail, all EMAILS & CONTACTS plus the PROGRAM must reside on my PC's
NO interest in T Bird as my ASP has problem with configuration.
JUST Business emailing of simple txt msg with maybe a PDf or some images attached.

NEED to be able configure it myself using IMAP as below:

Note: Make sure you enter @charter.net after your Charter.net Username or you will be unable to log in.
    User name:
    Charter.netusername@charter.net
    Password:
The password you use to sign in to your email account
    SSL:
This setting should be On for both SMTP and IMAP.
    Protocol:
    IMAP
    Incoming Email Server:
    IMAP.charter.net
    Port:
    143
    Outgoing Email Server:
    SMTP.charter.net
    Port:
    25
    Web Mail Address:
    http://www.charter.net

If applicable: Log in will be required when sending and receiving mail.

    cheers,

    klx

Something like Outlook Express is Microsoft Outlook, but you have to buy Office to use it.

Sucks that you can't use T Bird what problems does it bring up with your ASP? You can try Windows live mail. Windows Essentials: Other Programs - Microsoft Windows

Thanks for the quick repy; however Outlook is a little bit of an overkill, like using a Weatherby 460 magnum
to hunt deer, when a 30-30 will do fine.

ISP only supports their web mail program. I'm trying some work arounds & since one of my PC's is running XP pro, Current WLM versions won't work, Even v 2009 won't install.

Since I can upload pix the std way on this forum, I could post the pix I have of TBird if you think you may be able to help. Please let me know.

I'll keep looking for a PC based client as web mail is very inefficent for the work I do.

Maybe you can recommend a simple site I can upload screen shots for linking foruma that require it.
I've already chk'd out these sites and they were somewhat kludgy, Photobucket uploaded a bunch if pix even though I selected only 2 sm screeshots. It took several hr to find the delete link so I could delete very sensitive pix. Emailing them for info was usless. The other 2 were almost as bad. You can post he pic of T bird if you want. it should work if you set it up with the settings that you posted above if that is what charter is wanting to connect to their servers.

EDIT: odd that Windows essentials wont install I just installed it for someone yesterday for mail.

    rvcjew,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to reinstall TB and take screen shots of every step so I can show exactly what is going on. That will take a day or two because of I'm piccking up a lapto that may come in today?

    Get back soon.
