How do I remove the "Bing" search bar from Internet Explorer 8?

i found the answer on yahoo answers, but its linked on another seven forum. Not sure if thats against the rules to post the link. Here is someone with your same question:

You could click on the x on the left side of the toolbar and a popup will appear asking if you want to disable the toolbar.

What you're talking about isn't an add on Bing search bar. It's an integral part of IE and can be configured for any search provider and also works as "Find on This Page."

If you want to hide it, go to Start... Run... gpedit.msc.

User Configuration... Administrative Templates... Windows Components... Internet Explorer. That will give you the option of hiding or displaying the search box.

If its Bing in particular that you don't like, simply download another toolbar from the providers webiste for free. I use google. During the toolbar download, you will be given the option to make that your default setting rather than Bing.

You can then hide the tool bar by clicking X and choosing the option of permanantly hiding the toolbar. But the search bar stays beside the address bar, but at least its google search and not Bing.
